Authorities say two deputies were shot and killed at a restaurant in Trenton, Florida.
There is an active crime scene in front of the Ace China restaurant, at the corner of S. Santa Fe Ave. and State Road 26.
According to the Gilchrist County County Sheriff's Office, the alleged gunman walked up to the restaurant around 3 p.m. on Thursday and shot both the deputies through the window. As fellow deputies responded to the scene, they found the alleged shooter deceased outside the business.
"At this point, it remains an active criminal investigation with no apparent motive or indications as to why this tragedy occurred. Sheriff Bobby Schultz has been on scene throughout the afternoon with his deputies and their families, notifying additional loved ones," said Sergeant Brett Rhodenizer, with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott stated he had been briefed on the shooting and that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is assisting in the investigation.
"I’ve offered any state support they may need," Gov. Scott said.
