This is the heroic moment a brave man raced up an escalator to rescue a three-year-old girl who was left hanging 65ft from the ground when she became trapped on a handrail.
Local policeman Zou Yanjie was off-duty when he sprung into action in a shopping centre in Zhengzhou City, China, as a mother struggled to pull her child to safety.
Heart-stopping security footage shows the girl was dangling off the side of the escalator until the brave rescuer managed to haul her onto the moving steps.
The girl's mother, whose surname is Li, said she feared her daughter was seconds from death as she watched on helplessly until the Good Samaritan intervened.
She said: "I told the kid it's time to leave but she wouldn't go.
