An inmate has been caught sneaking into a burger chain toilet to have sex while his supervising guard was distracted buying ice cream at the counter.

A Corruption and Crime Commission investigation into the incident revealed a small group of prisoners at a low security prison farm had “groomed and exploited” a 64-year-old prison guard to make unauthorised stops at fast food chains and news agencies when transporting them back to jail from supervised work programs.
During one unscheduled stop-off the guard, David Northing, and two prisoners entered Hungry Jacks in Mundaring in Perth's hills for the convicted men to use the bathrooms and be treated to ice-cream and soft drink.
One of the prisoners, however, had other plans, having arranged a liaison with a woman who was waiting in a booth eating fries when he walked through the restaurant’s doors.
