CNN's Alisyn Camerota told conservative activist Matt Schlapp that it was appropriate for the FBI to treat the Trump campaign like the Central American gang.
Taking issue over conservative political activist Matt Schlapp’s interchangeable use of the words “spy” and “informant” Wednesday morning, CNN’s Alisyn Camerota argued that the FBI was merely investigating the Trump campaign like they would MS-13.
Schlapp took issue with the FBI’s tactics in gathering information on the Trump campaign, an objection that Camerota smugly rejected.
“When the FBI uses a source in MS-13 to find out what they’re doing, is that a spy or is that a source and informant?” she asked.
Schlapp responded that it was, in fact, a spy.
“Do you want the FBI to figure out when someone is doing something untoward?” the CNN host then asked. “Why are you saying they’re spying when they’re trying to find out if Russia infiltrated?”
“Donald Trump is not MS-13, Alisyn!” Schlapp shot back. “MS-13 is a gang that creates havoc in our society. Donald Trump was the duly-nominated Republican candidate.”
Camerota claimed that the FBI was not targeting Trump in the 2016 investigation, an assertion Schlapp would not accept.
