The 32-year-old claimed he ditched the child over fears he would be socially shamed for fathering a fourth baby.
Bitto and his wife Prabitha, 28, were both arrested on Friday morning after abandoning their baby at the church in Edappally, India.
The couple were traced using the CCTV footage, which was aired on local TV channels and shared online.
Prabitha reportedly gave birth to the baby in hospital and colluded with her husband to abandon the baby.
