The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified Shan Kittredge as the suspect shot in an officer-involved shooting Saturday.
According to Metro, officers opened fire on a man Saturday who they say was wanted for more than eight armed robberies over the past two weeks.
The incident happened at a gas station in the area of Blue Diamond Road and Valley View Boulevard.
As the suspect stopped to get gas, detectives with Metro's Major Violators Unit attempted to take him into custody.
At first, the suspect obeyed commands and got onto the ground, but then he jumped up and got back into his vehicle, according to a report released by Metro Police.
When the suspect put the car into gear and began to take off, one detective opened fire striking the suspect. Metro said six rounds were fired. A taser was fired as well, Metro said Monday in the news conference.
The officer has been identified as Sergeant Joseph Emery. Sergeant Emery is 53 years old and has been employed with the LVMPD since Sept. 1990.
Medical responders rushed the suspect to University Medical Center where he is expected to survive. When the vehicle was searched, a firearm was found inside, Metro Police said
