A JetBlue pilot accidentally radioed that his flight had been hijacked, sparking a major security alert.
The jet was surrounded by police cars, ambulances and FBI vehicles with lights flashing on Tuesday night amid reports that the pilot had lost communication.
Flight 1623 was due to leave JFK International Airport for Los Angeles at 7.30pm local time.
As the aircraft was taxiing for takeoff, the pilot reported a problem with the Airbus 320's radio equipment to air traffic control.
But instead, he inadvertently used the code for a hijacking, law enforcement sources told the New York Post .
