A firefighter was left soaked after an aircraft tackling the Winter Hill moor fire dumped a huge load of water.
The hard-working Salford crew member was battling the "rapidly developing and aggressive fire" at Winter Hill, which has now merged with another blaze near Bolton and has been declared a major incident.
As part of the huge operation water is being collected from nearby reservoirs and dumped on the some of the hardest to reach areas, Manchester Evening News reports.
And video taken at the scene shows fire crews dealing with the disaster as a helicopter flies into view at around 3pm yesterday.
