Police are investigating shocking video footage of a girl gang kicking a defenceless young teenager in the head which has been shared on social media.
The girl victim, aged 13, is currently being treated in hospital for her injuries.
The incident is believed to have taken place close to the boating lake at Stamford Park, in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, on Friday afternoon, the Manchester Evening News reports .
The footage shows a young girl trying to protect herself as she sits stationary on a grassy patch of the park.
Several other girls can be seen taking it in turns to kick the teenager to the head, shoulder and back.
