A wanted man and the hostage he was holding at knifepoint were shot dead by police in a dramatic stand-off.
Guillermo Perez, 32, was shot by three officers in Los Angeles on June 16 after witnesses reported he had stabbed an ex-girlfriend near a church in the Van Nuys area.
When officers arrived Perez was still clutching a bloody knife and a metal chair but refused to put it down despite repeated warnings.
Dramatic bodycam footage shows officers trying to disarm him by shouting "drop the knife" and firing non-lethal beanbags but he grabbed a female hostage and held the knife to her neck.
Three officers shot at him - killing him and tragically his hostage.
She was named by police as 49-year-old Elizabeth Tollison, abc7 reports .
