A town in Transylvania, Romania, is being terrorised by bears that have attacked several locals and tourists.
Dozens of brown bears living in the forests around the mountain resort of Baile Tusnad in Harghita, are regularly seen roaming the streets at night and foraging in rubbish bins.
They have previously been blamed for numerous attack on cows and sheep in the region, but security patrols were brought in after the number of attacks on humans began increasing.
Romania is home to around 60% of Europe's brown bears – some 6,000, a quarter of which roam the mountains around Harghita.
At the weekend, two men in their twenties were seriously injured in the centre of town by a female bear that was protecting her cub, reports Romania Insider .
