Stunning footage by NASA shows the terrifying power of Hurricane Lane as the devastating storm barreled towards Hawaii.
The video was captured by a stationary camera attached to the International Space Station as it orbited over the Pacific Ocean on August 22, just south of the archipelago, at around 12.47pm local time.
Hawaii residents are already reeling from months of explosive eruptions from Kilauea volcano are now braced on Wednesday for Hurricane Lane.
The devastating storm was bearing down on the U.S. island chain with high winds and lashing rains and the potential to trigger flooding and landslides.
Though the hurricane weakened slightly as it spun across the Pacific Ocean it remained a Category 4 storm, according to the U.S. Central Pacific Hurricane Center.
