Two men accused of whistling at a girl and drinking booze in public were dragged out of a jail cell and burned alive by a cheering mob.
The angry horde had wrongly believed rumours on social media claiming the men - thought to be father and son - were being held for trying to kidnap children.
Horrifying scenes unfolded at a police station as locals hellbent on vigilante justice broke into the cell, battered the two men and hauled them outside.
The vigilantes poured petrol on their bodies then set them alight as a crowd of about 150 people cheered and applauded the sick act.
Police had arrested the farm workers - named locally as Alberto Flores Morales, 53, and Ricardo Flores Rodriguez, 21 - after they whistled at a girl and were found to be drinking alcohol in public, according to local media.
They were running an errand when they were arrested, their relatives claim.
Rumours soon spread claiming that the men had tried to kidnap children in the village of San Vicente Boqueron, in Mexico's Puebla state.
