Police officers scrambled to Saxon Road, a residential street in north-west Luton, after the violent brawl broke out on Sunday.
The identities of the victims are unknown, and police are not thought to have made any arrests in connection with the attack.
Video footage shared on social media showed young men gesturing and jostling in the street.
Eyewitness Nazmul Islam, who works in a nearby takeaway, told the Mirror Online: "I saw two people who had been wounded.
"Some ambulances came and they were treated. Both of them were boys, about 18 to 20 years old. I saw that they were bleeding."
Bedfordshire Police said: "We were called to Saxon Road in Luton after receiving reports of a large number of individuals fighting.
"Emergency services are at the scene and some people have been taken to hospital after reports of stab wounds."
In a later statement, the force said: "Seven people are currently being treated in hospital and one is in a critical condition.
