A councillor and his wife were hospitalised after an 'armed robbery' at their shop, which happened in broad daylight.
Councillor Chaman Lal, a labour councillor for Soho and Jewellery Quarter, and his wife were allegedly attacked with a knife while working at their fruit and veg shop.
A woman and a man stormed the store at 12.15pm this afternoon before threatening and attacking Chaman and his wife.
Birmingham Live reports that the councillor, who also runs family business Uplands Fruits, was slashed in the hand.
