A rescue attempt descended into chaos after an injured leopard attacked a villager in Bageshwar, India, on October 3.
As a few men used thick sticks to restrain the animal, Jagdish Singh, 50, tried to tie it up. But the big cat suddenly broke free and mauled his hands and legs.
Other villagers managed to pull him away and send him to a hospital. One villager criticized the rescue attempt, saying officials should have tranquilized the animal instead of instructing it be tied up. After the incident, the leopard was rescued safely.
