Inside the Chinese camps where a million Muslims are detained for 'reeducation'

Nearly a million Chinese Muslims have been detained in secretive prison camps so they can be 'de-radicalised.'



New evidence has uncovered the shocking extent of the incarceration in western China's Xinjiang province - home to the country's Uyghurs, a predominantly Muslim ethnic group.



Satellite photos taken in October revealed that at least two of the 'training camps' - located near the cities of Kashgar and Hotan - are growing rapidly.



Little is known about the day-to-day life at these sites but propaganda video shows internees being taught Chinese language and vocational skills.



Beijing officials have recently admitted to their existence and claim they have been set up to prevent men and women being radicalised by Islamic extremists.
