CNN’s Jake Tapper declared that although there was still an opportunity for the Democrats to take the U.S. House of Representatives, it looked already like the much vaunted “blue wave” of Democratic votes was not manifesting itself.
“This is not a blue wave. It is entirely possible that the Democrats will regain control of the House today, but I have to say when you look at what’s going on here tonight, this is not a blue wave,” Tapper told Wolf Blitzer on Tuesday evening.
“This is not a wave that is knocking out all sorts of Republican incumbents,” he explained.
Tapper cited several competitive races where Democrats were unable to unseat Republicans.
“It does look as though Republicans have been able to build something of a wall in certain parts of the country,” he added, “especially in these states that President Trump won.”
