Thirteen people were killed, including the gunman, when a man stormed into a popular bar and restaurant and opened fire at revellers.
It was college night at Borderline Restaurant & Grill in Thousand Oaks today when the trenchcoat-wearing gunman opened fire at roughly 11.15pm local time.
Emergency services began to receive calls about the shooting at approximately 11.20pm and the first officers were swiftly on scene.
One of those, Sgt Ron Helus, was shot and killed. He was a 29-year-veteran of the force.
