A brazen carer caught on shocking CCTV stealing money from a vulnerable dementia sufferer was spared an immediate jail term.
Sophy Retallick took cash out of the 83-year-old's purse and handbag on numerous occasions between the end of last year and May this year.
When the victim's family became suspicious, they installed CCTV in the home in Truro, Cornwall, and eventually caught shameless Retallick in the act.
Cornwall Live reports the mum-of-two on Monday pleaded guilty to theft, a crime dubbed "extremely serious" by the chairman of the bench.
Yet her three-month jail spell was suspended for 12 months at Truro Magistrates' Court.
Sentencing, the chairman of the bench said: "This was extremely serious, deliberate offending over a period of time."
