Black Friday shoppers fled in terror and hid in stores when a gunman opened fire inside a packed shopping centre, wounding two before he was shot dead by police.
Several shoppers were seen with their own guns drawn amid the the chaos and stampede for the exits at the Riverchase Galleria in the US city of Hoover, Alabama.
The mall was crowded with thousands of people taking advantage of early Black Friday sales when the 21-year-old gunman got into a fight with an 18-year-old man just before 10pm on Thanksgiving night.
After shooting and seriously injuring the 18-year-old, the gunman was shot dead by a police officer who confronted him as he ran from the scene, said Hoover police Captain Gregg Rector.
A 12-year-old girl, a bystander, was also wounded and she was in a stable condition in hospital.
