Mexico's incoming government denied a report Saturday that it plans to allow asylum-seekers to wait in the country while their claims move through U.S. immigration courts, one of several options the Trump administration has been pursuing in negotiations for months.
President Donald Trump said on Twitter that migrants at the southern border will not be allowed into the U.S. until a court approves their claims individually.
He said Saturday on Twitter: "All will stay in Mexico. If for any reason it becomes necessary, we will CLOSE our Southern Border."
A humanitarian crisis has been declared in Tijuana after nearly 5,000 Central American migrant arrived at the border city having spent more than a month travelling from Honduras.
