The Nike Air Jordan Rookie of the Year trainers were going on sale for an eye-watering £150 a pair but were being offered online for as much as 10 times the initial price.
People had been queing for housr to get thier hands on the rare shoes so when the man narged through a mob descnded on him with punches and kicks.
More than 500 people had gathered outside the Nike shop in at Chnagsha, Hunan province, China ahead of the trainers release.
The launch event has been peaceful as people queued from the early hours of the morning, but descended into violence when one impatient shopper tried to squeeze in.
