A suspected gangster was caught on camera hitting a shopkeeper in the head with a machete before pouring a vat of boiling water over him.
The pair had been arguing over a 40p corn-on-the-cob snack when the owner of the corner shop, Mr Xiao, was attacked.
The assault was captured on CCTV and has since been viewed more than 15millon times after it was filmed in Nanning, in southern China.
Mr Xiao had earlier called the police after the man had slapped one of his staff in a row about snack.
