Metro Police identified 21-year-old Krystal Whipple as the suspect in the brutal hit-and-run death of nail salon worker. The agency also released surveillance video of the deadly incident.
According to officers, on Sat. Dec. 29, after getting a manicure at a nail salon located in the 4900 block of West Flamingo Road, Whipple left the business without paying. Metro said she told the staff that she would get cash from her vehicle to pay the bill, but attempted to drive off without paying.
The victim, 51-year-old Ngoc Q. Nguyen of Garden Grove, California, ran in front of the suspect’s car to stop her, but Whipple did not stop and struck Nguyen with her car.
Nguyen was taken to University Medical Center Trauma where she was pronounced dead.
Police said Whipple fled the scene after the incident and abandoned her car in a nearby apartment complex.
