A shopkeeper who was left battered and bruised in an unprovoked attack has slammed the courts after his racist attacker was only given a 28-week sentence.
Jimmy Morar was repeatedly punched and verbally abused at his Premier Convenience Store in Birkenhead, Liverpool, by thug Daniel Devlin.
Mr Morar was called a "P**i bas***d" in the attack just before Christmas and was left with blood pouring down his face.
But to make matters worse the 58-year old has just found out his attacker has only been locked up for six months and ordered to pay £115 compensation, reports Liverpool Echo.
The father-of-four received a letter from "Witness Care", informing him about Devlin's sentnece.
He said the punishment handed to Devlin, 33, of Price Street, Birkenhead, was a "joke and a slap in the face."
He added: "Every morning I wake up and see the scars he's left me.
"It's a chilling reminder of what happened and a sign that I'm living with the fear and pain of what he did.
