Conservative activists faced off against an LGBT rally outside a government building in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, on Friday, footage released on Saturday shows.
The confrontation took place after the head of Georgia's Orthodox Church spoke on June 14, against the upcoming march 'Tbilisi pride' in support of LGBT rights, planned to be held on June 18-23.
LGBT activists gathered near the main Georgian government building, calling on the police and government for support and protection of the upcoming events.
Conservative demonstrators blocked pro-LGBT activists from approaching the government building.
The police employees stood in a cordon to protect the LGBT-activists from conservatives.
Local media reports that police detained nearly ten people during the spontaneous protest.
