A Tory minister has been suspended after grabbing a woman by the neck at a black tie banquet for bankers.
Theresa May took action against Mark Field after the PM watched shock footage of the incident last night at London's Mansion House.
Police, Tory whips and the Cabinet Office are all probing a video that shows the Foreign Office minister shoving a Greenpeace protester who gatecrashed the event against a pillar.
The Tory MP for the Cities of London and Westminster then marched Janet Barker out of the room, holding her by the back of the neck.
Ms Barker - who reportedly knits rabbit wool on a farm in rural Wales - said Mr Field's actions were "really over the top".
She told the BBC protesters were simply planning to "stand there dignified", adding: "We were peaceful. I was simply trying to walk past his chair."
The Prime Minister's spokeswoman said Mrs May found the footage "very concerning". She added: "The police have said they are looking into reports about this matter and Mark Field has referred himself to both the cabinet office and the Conservative Party.
