A British filmmaker has been caught on camera stepping in to stop a man from being murdered in an explosive tribal conflict in the Congo.
Livia Simoka, from London, found herself at the centre of a terrifying stand-off during her five-month stay in the turbulent region.
She was filming Channel 4 documentary Extreme Tribe: The Last Pygmies for which she embarked on a journey into the rainforest to meet the village of Bonguinda.
After living the with Mbendjele tribe, she was shocked to discover their treatment by residents of rival village Bantu and the explosive conflicts between them.
She found herself caught up in the violence as a group faced off, and one man tried to drag another into the jungle to be killed.
