Scientists in Florida had a close encounter with an enormous deep-sea shark , which they compared to meeting ’T.rex in water.’
The team, from Florida State University , encountered the 16-foot-long bluntnose sixgill shark at a depth of more than 1,700 feet below sea level.
Thankfully, the scientists were safe within a submersible during the expedition, which aimed to implant a tag in the shark’s side.
The tag will be used to record data on the shark’s depth every few minutes for the next few three months, giving researchers a glimpse into the species’ habits and movements.
