Sean Whippler, 26, was accused of sexually abusing a girl for years, beginning when she was younger than 13-years-old in Roscoe, Illinois.
Whippler was charged with three counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Abuse, which each carry 30-year maximum sentences, but Whippler’s lawyer struck a plea deal with prosecutors.
That saw him plea guilty to the lesser charge of Criminal Sexual Abuse. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, then four years of probation.
Whippler’s lawyer, Elder Granger, said: ‘You have circumstances where someone is low risk, they have no prior record, they’re not likely to (be a repeat offender) in the future. So, then probation is a good sentence.’
