Los Angeles, CA - LAPD released bodycam footage of an arrest that occurred on January 6th, 2019.
At 2:50 p.m., officers assigned to Devonshire Division responded to the 21500 block of Lassen Street for a radio call of a vandalism suspect.
The Sergeant arrived before the officers and met with the person who called for service.
He then broadcast that he was on scene with the two vandalism suspects later identified as Kellie Millard and Carlos Mejia.
Millard failed to comply with the sergeant’s commands and a use of force occurred. During the use of force, Mejia approached the sergeant and a second use of force occurred.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel transported the involved sergeant and Millard to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
Kellie Millard is a 23-year-old resident of Los Angeles with no prior criminal history. She’s had two prior contacts with the mental evaluation unit.
Carlos Mejia is a 24-year-old resident of Los Angeles with no prior criminal history. He has had no prior contacts with the mental evaluation unit.
On January 8th, 2019, Mejia was convicted on one count of resisting arrest which was related to this incident.
On January 31st, 2019, Millard was convicted of one count of battery with injury on a police officer which was also related to this incident.
