An Arizona police officer has resigned from his department after an internal investigation found he used excessive force when taking an unarmed man into custody.
The Glendale Police Department announced in a Wednesday release that Officer Joshua Carroll resigned from the department on August 31 after it was recommended that he be fired.
Shocking bodycam footage from a June 13 arrest shows Carroll proceeding to detain a man - later identified as David Dulaney - who had been sitting in his vehicle at an apartment complex on the 1000 block of North 44th Drive.
Dulaney had been sleeping inside his car and told Carroll that he was waiting on a friend at the complex.
The officer tried to get further information from the man but Dulaney would not provide his last name or date of birth. The man then started his vehicle, prompting the officer to move.
