Patterson Police arrived at the scene to find a man walking around with a gun. They warned him several times to drop the gun but the man kept walking back and forth. The black residents crowded the sidewalks and demanded the police shoot the man.
One person is heard saying 'yo if he had been black he'd been shot that nigga man.'
Another is says 'hey yo, kill that nigga!'
Another voice: 'YO, LIGHT HIS ASS UP!'
The police eventually shot the man multiple times, killing him on the scene.
