DETROIT (MDN)- Two innocent bystanders were struck by stray bullets when a gunfight erupted inside a Detroit Coney Island early Saturday morning.
The shooting happened at around 2:20 a.m. in the 3400 block of Woodward Ave, which is near Mack Ave. and John R.
According to police, two armed men — 23 and 24-years-old — entered the business with a 23-year-old woman. Upon entry, the two male suspects began arguing with a third male suspect who was already seated inside the restaurant.
The argument escalated and that’s when one of the suspects started exchanging gunfire with the third male suspect who was seated inside. As a result of the shooting, the 23-year-old male suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the body, along with the 23-year-old female bystander.
The female bystander was pronounced dead at the scene. The 23-year-old Roseville male suspect was privately conveyed to the hospital. He is currently in critical condition.
Police say a second bystander who was inside the location was also shot. The 60-year-old man was transported to the hospital by medics and listed in temporary serious condition.
The 24-year-old man was located at the hospital and arrested. He has since been taken to the Detroit Detention Center for processing, police said.
A third male suspect is still at large. Police say it is unknown if he was injured during the shootout.
Anyone with information is asked to please call Detroit Police Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up. Again, this is preliminary information and subject to change upon further investigation.
