There is an increased police presence in Hyndburn this week following a gang attack in Church that involved masked men with machetes and baseball bats.
Around 15 to 20 men with bats, machetes and other weapons descended on a house in Tanpits Road, Church, at around 2pm on Tuesday (October 13).
There, the gang destroyed two cars - a Peugeot and BMW - before smashing the windows of a house and forcing their way inside.
Two women in their 20s and a child were in the house at the time of the attack and were forced to hide upstairs.
The group of men damaged a television, ornaments, walls and rear windows and stole money before making off from the scene in six vehicles.
Officers are now trying to trace a blue Seat, a white Ford Transit van, green Mitsubishi Shogun, grey Volkswagen Passat, a dark BMW 3 Series and a silver Volkswagen Estate with a roof rack, as part of the investigation.
Two men aged 35 and 27 from Bolton and a 26-year-old man from Trowbridge were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. They have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Lancashire Constabulary is now urging calm in the local area, saying this was a "targeted attack" with no wider threat.
"Our information suggests this was a targeted attack in an on-going dispute between two groups known to each other," a police spokesperson said.
