WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A woman who was assaulted in the Hanes Mall parking lot by a group of juveniles spoke out Sunday in the hopes the teenagers turn their lives around.
LaTina Melton said she and her boyfriend got a call Saturday from her boyfriend's daughter, who told them she and a few other people were being followed by a group of teenagers who wanted to jump them.
The other people were safely at their car when Melton and her boyfriend were going to theirs and tried talking to the group, Melton said. The girl who had the initial issue with her boyfriend's daughter was interested in talking, but the other people in the group were rowdy.
The assault that followed was caught on video and has been spread on social media.
