The New York City Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in ascertaining the whereabouts of the unidentified male who is seen in the attached video and is sought by the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force in connection with a grand larceny within the confines of the 90th Precinct. Details are as follows:
It was reported to police that on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 1815 hours, on the corner of Wallabout Street and Marcy Avenue, the victim, a 27-year-old male wearing traditional Hasidic attire, was approached from behind by an unidentified male who snatched his Shtreimel from his head and fled on foot. The Shtreimel was valued at $8,000.
The unidentified male is 5'07" to 5'10", 125lbs, and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.
Video is attached and available at DCPI. The second clip shows the unidentified male running with the victim’s Shtreimel on Walton Avenue in the vicinity of Harrison Avenue.
