WASHINGTON (7News) — D.C. Police officers shot an armed male suspect while investigating a domestic incident at an apartment Friday night in Southwest Washington. As of Sunday, D.C. police have released body camera footage.
The male suspect, later identified as Terrance Parker, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and authorities say no officers were injured in the incident. He later died due to his injuries, according to police.
Shortly before 9 p.m., DC Police officers were called for a reported domestic incident at 4th Street and M Street SW.
Officers arrived within minutes and went to the floor of the apartment that they were called to, according to police. The door of the apartment where the incident allegedly occurred was opened voluntarily.
Investigators say while officers were in the apartment conducting interviews, they engaged a male occupant. The male allegedly pulled out a gun. Police say officers gave commands and the male suspect didn't drop the gun and the officers fired shots.
The male suspect's gun was recovered at the scene and police say there were a total of two people in the apartment at the time.
The incident is currently under review by the U.S. Attorney's Office and will be followed up by an internal investigation by MPD's Internal Affairs Bureau.
