FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) - Danielle Green has been voted out as Flint Community Schools board president, but will remain as a school board member.
The board does not have the authority to remove members. A recall effort or special order from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are the only ways to remove an elected school board member.
Green was not in attendance of a special meeting Wednesday evening, but the remaining six school board members voted for her removal as board president.
Joyce Ellis-McNeal was elected president and Carol McIntosh was voted in as vice president.
The leadership changes Wednesday evening came after a heated disagreement between Green and Treasurer Laura McIntyre during a Flint Community Schools board meeting earlier in the day turned physical.
Green and McIntyre got into an altercation during a discussion about building new schools for the district.
"This is not one of my highlights of my anything my life, my career, my position in the community," Green said. "None of this am I proud of. Absolutely not. And this is one incident."
She said the altercation does not define who she is or her record of service to the community, including on the school board.
"Never in my life would I have thought something like this I will be involved in ever, ever," Green said. "And I can say this, my record speaks for itself."
