A convicted felon took on more than he could handle Tuesday afternoon in Moses Lake when police say he attempted to carjack a vehicle with a mother and her two children inside.
Moses Lake Police say Salvador Ernest Harguindeguy, 32, was wanted on four outstanding felony warrants when he was spotted just after noon by officers near Ivy Street.
Police say a foot chase ensued to Western Avenue where they say Harguindeguy tried to force his way into the driver’s seat of a car as a woman was preparing to drive away with her two kids inside.
The mother fought off the suspect until officers arrived and pulled her to safety.
They then wrestled Harguindeguy from the car and he was arrested on warrants that included second-degree assault and possession of a stolen firearm.
He now faces additional charges of first-degree robbery, attempted vehicle theft and resisting arrest.
