SANGER, Calif. — A man was rushed to the hospital after being set on fire in Sanger Thursday night.
Police have arrested two people who they say were involved in the incident, Patricia Castillo, 48, accused of lighting the man on fire and Leonard Hawkins, 43, who gave the woman an accelerant.
Officers responded to Sanger Park shortly after 9 p.m., when they arrived, they found a man with severe burns to his upper body.
Through surveillance video, officers learned that Castillo walked up to the man sitting on the grass and poured gasoline onto him.
They both seemed to argue in the video before the woman starts to ignite a lighter. Eventually, the man’s clothing catches fire, he was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
Details on what exactly led to this incident are unknown.
After further investigation police were able to identify Castillo and Hawkins. Both the suspects were taken into custody without incident and are facing multiple felony charges.
