This is the disturbing footage being shared on social media depicting police from Sierra Leone tieing up a man and beating him with a wooden plank for petty theft. When the victim doesn't seem to be in enough pain, the police douse him with water to give the wooden paddle greater impact and sting.
Just when you thought that was enough, one man cuts his pant leg to expose the flesh and the abuse continues.
Just a reminder: Approximately 60 percent of Sierra Leoneans live below the national poverty line. Remaining among the world's poorest nations, ranking 180 out of 187 countries in the Human Development Index, more than 60 percent of Sierra Leoneans live on less than $1.25 a day.
