Detroit police are searching for the suspect — or suspects — involved in a drive-by shooting Thursday night near the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel.
Four men suffered non-life-threatening injuries following the shooting near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Michigan Avenue at about 11:20 p.m., according to police. While the shooting is still under investigation, police have preliminarily found that the incident involved two groups of people who had conflict earlier in the evening, prompting the gunfire by the suspects, who followed the victims from a previous location.
Police believe the suspect's vehicle was parked along Washington Boulevard waiting for the victims to arrive, Detroit Police Chief James White said during a news conference Friday. In security camera footage, the victims' car slows along the street curb and three men jump out of the car and seem to return fire at the suspect's vehicle. They then get back in the car, which continued to crawl down Washington Boulevard, and jump back out, one man appears to be supporting another who was walking with a limp.
