On Wednesday afternoon, an alarming incident occurred at the University of California, Berkeley. According to the University of California Police Department (UCPD), they received a call at approximately 4:17 p.m. reporting a person who was on fire.
The incident took place at Sproul Plaza, which is located at the center of the campus. Eyewitnesses reported that a man had set himself on fire and was suffering from critical burns. The Berkeley Fire Department officials were quick to arrive at the scene and transported the injured man to a local hospital.
Sadly, a female bystander who attempted to help the man also sustained injuries. However, the nature of her injuries is unknown at this time.
According to eyewitness accounts, the man's clothing had been completely burned off, and he was yelling and moaning in pain.
