NEW YORK -- Police say an NYPD officer was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop in Manhattan on Wednesday.
The suspect has not been caught.
It happened around 5 p.m. at East 30th Street and Madison Avenue in the Flatiron District.
Video shows one officer hitting the side mirror of a black sedan surrounded by police and other vehicles.
"Both sides of the car had smashed windows. The windshield was smashed," witness Stephan Hanzlik said.
Police say it all started when officers tried to stop the black Cadillac at 38th Street and Seventh Avenue, but the driver took off. They spotted it again at Madison and 30th.
Video shows the driver tries to get away by backing up but ends up hitting an officer. The suspect can then be seen barreling onto the sidewalk, crashing into an outdoor eating structure and weaving down the street before taking down a street sign and a hydrant.
