CHICAGO — A woman armed with a metal baseball bat attacked at least five women on the North Side in an apparently random series of crimes that were partially captured on video, according to Chicago police.
The attacks began around 11:30 a.m. in the 4500 block of North Mozart in Ravenswood Manor.
Chicago police said a woman stopped her white sedan, got out, and attacked two sisters standing nearby with a baby stroller. A few seconds of that attack were recorded by a witness and shared on Facebook.
After hitting the women four or five times each with her bat, the woman returned to her car and drove away. Both victims declined medical attention, police said.
More attacks involving a woman armed with a baseball bat and traveling in a white sedan were reported about 30 minutes later.
Police said two women were attacked in the 3000 block of West Belle Plaine, and another was attacked in the 3000 block of West Cullom. One woman also reported that the attacker tried to run her over with her car, according to an email received by CWBChicago.
The woman who was attacked on Cullom took herself to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment. She was initially reported to be in good condition, according to CPD.
Most of the victims said the woman was Asian, but at least one thought she was Hispanic. She stands about 5’3″ tall and wore sunglasses.
No motive was offered for the attacks. Police said the woman remains at large.
