FLINT, MI – A staff member was injured during an altercation between two students at Flint Southwestern Classical Academy on Sept. 28.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Flint Community Schools district, according to a statement that was sent by Superintendent Kevelin Jones Thursday night.
“We take this matter seriously and are fully committed to addressing it in a manner that adheres to the law and aligns with the policies of our district,” Jones wrote. “We understand the concern and worry that incidents like this can generate within our school community.”
A video circulating on social media appears to depict a student picking up a desk chair and throwing it in the direction of a staff member, who was facing in the opposite direction at the time.
The staff member appeared to be hit by the chair in the head and neck area and immediately fell to the ground.
