After the hit piece, prominent leftist Keith Olbermann issued a call for the Biden administration to ban X. He did not, notably, call for bans of popular social media site TikTok, despite the massive amounts of antisemitic rhetoric coming from that platform.
"It is time for the government of the United States to ban X, the social media site still largely known as Twitter," Olbermann said, noting the irony that he was announcing this on X. He targeted Musk, X, and Donald Trump, saying that the former president was "echoing the hate speech of the Nazis and Hitler."
Olbermann made these comments about President Donald Trump without offering any proof of his claim that Trump holds these hateful views. Trump has said that if he were in office, the attack, which has been in the planning by Hamas for two years—since Biden took the White House—would not have happened were he still in office. Trump moved the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and his Abraham Accords brought peaceful, bilateral agreements to the Middle East.
