Lansing Police has released bodycam video of the officer-involved shooting that injured two officers and the suspect.
The officer-involved shooting happened in the area of W Holmes Road and Pleasant Grove Road at around 11:30 a.m. on April 10. According to police, detectives responded to the 2000 block of W Holmes Road to follow up on a previous crime. Lansing Police Chief Ellery Sosebee said the suspect, 28-year-old Andrial Ched Ortiz, managed to get a hold of a detective’s gun and fired the weapon. The detectives called for backup, and two of the responding officers were shot.
Ortiz was then arrested and transported to a local hospital to treat his gunshot wound. The officers and the suspect received non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.
